This is awesome! Seriously, that sounds like the best class ever.  I want to take a class that lets me climb a mountain!  And kudos to you for doing it.  I love the video and listening to you talk about all that you learned.  As an avid hiker and mountain climber, I can definitely tell you – sometimes you make it all the way, and sometimes you don’t.  No biggie.  There’s always next time.  Besides, it’s about the adventure and enjoying the sites.  Yes, making it to the top is cool.  But then so is getting out there in nature and appreciating the beauty of everything surrounding you and pushing your physical limits a bit.  You rock!

Thanks Heather! It was a really awesome class. The course work was great too. I really came away with a new-found appreciation for nature and its profound beauty. It was great to just embark on an adventure and get out of my comfort zone. And it definitely piqued my interest in more adventuring!

What an awesome story – congratulations on the accomplishment. There really is nothing like putting yourself out there (literally) like that to figure out exactly what you are made of, what is important, what is not, and who you are.

When I climbed Kili last year there was a guy from another tour company on our route, and every night I would hear him bitch about the food, the tents, the weather, the dirt, the cold. I’m like, “um, we are on a 9-day trek on a mountain in East Africa, WTF did you expect?”  In contrast me and my camping mates joked about “clean dirt” and were appreciative of the little things.

Life truly is what you make it.

Beautifully written post about your incredible experience!  Such great reminders for all of us when we endeavor to do something new.  And I am so inspired about your vlog, that’s my “mountain” I’m getting ready to climb.
    xoxo.

Thanks Maira! It’s true, we never know what we are going to learn or encounter when we set out to do something new. I can’t wait to see you climb you “mountain” and start vlogging :)

Ha! You’re so right, perspective and attitude play such an important role when embarking on these crazy adventures. That’s another thing I was quite proud of myself about – I am adaptable. As a city girl I never imagined I’d be ok with sleeping stacked like sardines in a tent or peeing in bushes, lol.

Hmm..now you have me thinking about tackling Kili. Consider it added to the list!
